1. You first need to create an account, click the link to go to the LogMeIn website and then on the right hand side click on Create an Account which is below the login box. Choose the option “Access Computer Remotely” and enter your details. You will then be asked to install LogMeIn on the computer, just follow the instructions.

2. You will also need to download the LogMeIn software on the pc that you want a remote desktop connection to which is very easy to do. Login to the computer which you want to access remotely, open the web browser and then login to your LogMeIn account, remember to have the LogMeIn website address handy. Once you are logged in to your account go to “My computers” menu if you are not already there. Then click on “Add Computer”, a pop up box will ask you to select the location to save the file, choose your location and then once the download is finished double click on the file to start the installation.

When the installation wizard appears, click next and it will show you the details of the account holder then click next, agree the terms and conditions, select typical installation, leave the description which is the name of the computer as it is or you can name it different if you want. LogMeIn will use your windows username and password for authentication. If there isn’t any password set on that computer then it will ask to give a pass code to be assigned to the computer during installation. Click next and then the installation is done. The computer is ready to be accessed remotely anywhere.

3. To access any computer attached to your account remotely. Login to your LogMeIn account then click on the computer you want to access, if the computer is online you will see the computer name in green (you need that computer to be connected to internet before you can access it) if it is not online it will be grey. Click on the computer then select remote control it will ask for your username/password or pass code for the computer, after you enter these details then you will be able to access the computer as if you are sitting in front of it.

When you install LogMeIn they automatically give you a free trial to LogMeIn Pro. Personally I find it expensive and the free version is good enough for my requirements. A friend of mine who has his own business asked me the other day if there was a way that he could share the printer in the office with other members of staff. In the past only one person in the office needed to print to the printer, but things changed and other users needed to print. As far as configuring it you do have to do that on a computer, just follow the instructions.

As mentioned earlier you also need a wireless router in your home or office. Now you don’t need to have your printer tethered to one of your computers, you will be able to put the printer in an area where everybody can use it and access it easily.
The great thing about the Wireless Print Server is not only the ability to put it in any location but it takes some of the load off the computer that the printer was typically connected to. In a network when people are sending print jobs to the printer those print jobs are getting queued on the computer that it’s attached to. Now it goes directly to the print server. One thing to point out before you buy a Wireless Print Server make sure that it is compatible with your printer.

The two most common Wireless Print Servers are the Netgear WGPS606 which is suitable for most printers (but check before you buy). And for HP printers the HP Wireless G is very popular.

Another great way to recycle ink cartridges is to refill them with the appropriate ink. Because of the cost savings, this has become such a popular option that there are now a proliferation of online ink suppliers. Be sure that you order the right ink for your type of printer. And if you don’t want to do the refilling yourself, most of the refill companies also offer pre-refilled cartridges at steep discounts over the cost of new cartridges. I have tried this method and find that sometimes the quality of the ink is not as good as the original manufactures. However it is worth a try if it saves the environment and your pocket too.
